Sparkly HandMade Greeting Cards

When we are out on Market Circuits, Fairs and Crafts shows we are normally partnered with our goods friends from Eggbert and Daisy- Sparkly British Handmade Greeting Cards.

They Produce a collection of beautiful handmade greetings cards, for design-led card and gift shops. All of there products are designed, printed and finished by hand in the UK, using a selection of gorgeous boards, finest crystals and a sprinkling of extra sparkle.
As well as normally being perched next or behind us at the Wilmslow and Middlewich Artisan Markets sharing a cup of tea on cold days their card range really compliments our own gift range with customers buying that special present with a card. Sometimes our stalls seem to merge into that 1 sale.
Anyway there products can be purchased on line HEREDefinitely recommend a look.

Artisan Market Wilmslow Up for National Award

We are involved in an Artisan Market Wilmslow where we sell our Brilliantly British Range.     This particular market in Wilmslow, Cheshire started over a year ago and we have been involved since its inception.

It runs once a month down the high street and I think there are now close to 140 traders.  Its a fantastic day and we have become good friends with lots of the other traders.

Never thought in my life I would be getting up at 6 am on a Saturday to go and work on a market and over the last year we’ve seen every type of weather there is.  In fact when the sun is shining at 7am on a crisp Saturday morning I feel all wrong – I’m so used to trying to set up a Gazebo in a HURRICANE with it raining so hard its coming back up at me I’ve become almost good at it.

Anyway – The Artisan Market Wilmslow has gone from strength to strenght and is winning all sorts of awards and is being asked to venture further a field to others towns looking to rejuvenate there high streets.

Well worth a read about all the hard work that has gone into this market, its a pleasure to be involved.

Fragrance Never Sounded So Good

Candles are so popular these days, Theres also so much choice.  Yankee Candles marketing idea seemed to be swamp the market I would be surprised if we started seeing vending machines in toilets selling them soon,  To me this kinda cheapens the product somehow its no longer something new or unusual.

We love how Virginia Candle have never gone down this marketing route with Woodwick and there new brand RibbonWick.  It helps to keep the product exclusive New and Stylish.  It remains a talking point when people see them and also helps to keep the products in demand.

Heres a little write up on the brands,  Definatly worth a peek over @ Bill and Betty

Virginia Candle Company was founded in 1990 in Lynchburg, Virginia. Today Continue reading

Hard to Re-Invent the Wheel

We were down at the NEC Yesterday for the yearly Spring Fair.  This is the one of the biggest wholesale events of the year and is a lot of hard work getting round over 1000 different suppliers.  I like to wonder round these and look mainly at the smaller independent people, I love seeing there ideas and inventions and how much passion and hard work they have put into there products to get them at the stage where they are now hoping to sell them to masses.

One of our most popular brands that we carry is Continue reading

And whilst on the subject of Trade Shows

After writing yesterday about Christmas comes early to us and talking a little bit about the trade shows I went to bed last night thinking about something that happened to me at the Christmas Trade fair this year that I always found a little amusing with one of our suppliers so I though I would share the Story.

We deal with quite a few suppliers who are all lovely in the there own way and we have a fantastic relationship with them.  We choose our suppliers carefully and the thing that tends to win us over is good service and more importantly quality of the products.

Back in Jan 2010 when we went to our first Continue reading

Christmas comes early in our house

For years we’ve all heard the saying “Christmas seems to come earlier each year”.  you don’t know how actually true that is for us.

We start buying products for Bill and Betty in January.  Going to the trade fairs in January is like being in Santa’s grotto but on speed.  Just as we’ve packed up our own decorations and put them away for the following year “Betty” my wife is already starting to talk about the Trade show ready to buy stock for the business.  Then it comes,   Up at the crack of dawn on a cold Jan morning and making the drive to the trade show.  I remember the first time we went and to use that youth full word “OMG” I’ve never seen so many singing Santa’s.  Its at the point in the year when you want to forget about Christmas pay the credit cards and start looking forward to spring and we find ourselves still knee deep in Ding Dong Merrily on High.
